EY Luxembourg announced the appointment of Serge Hanssens as its new global client service partner for European institutions in a press release on Tuesday 17 September 2024. Hanssens, who joined the firm in September 2024, assumed responsibility for managing EY’s relationships with key public sector accounts in Europe.
Hanssens has nearly three decades of experience in public sector management and EU policy development. Before joining EY, he collaborated extensively with EU and multilateral bodies such as the European Commission, European Parliament, European Investment Bank, EU-LISA, the European chemicals agency (ECHA), Fusion for Energy and the Council of Europe. His work also extended to national governments in Germany, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Portugal, the Netherlands and Finland, as well as with international organisations such as Nato and private sector firms including Lufthansa Group, Star Alliance, Amadeus and Eurotunnel. His work covered policy development in areas such as migration, border management, digital identity, taxation and security, and focused on using technology to support digitalisation across sectors.
Hanssens holds degrees from the Université Libre de Bruxelles and HEC Liège and is fluent in English and French.
