Stëmm vun der Strooss, an association committed to the social and professional integration of people in difficulty, has received new financial support from the European Social Fund (ESF), the organisation announced in a press release on Monday 13 January. As part of a call for projects, its “Schweesdrëps” initiative has been selected for co-financing of 40% of the salary of a graduate educator for two years. The Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte will pay the other part of the salary.
The “Schweesdrëps” workshop offers around forty people social rehabilitation jobs in a Sanem-based laundromat dedicated to maintaining the uniforms of 42 sports clubs, i.e., a total of 321 teams. In 2024, over 97 tonnes of linen were processed by the laundry staff. But beyond the figures, the primary objective of the project remains, according to the association, “the professional reintegration of people in difficulty, dependent on others or far from the job market.”
However, the smooth running of the workshops run by Stëmm vun der Strooss depends on the quality of the supervision provided by specialist educators. Their role is essential in “maintaining cohesion within the workshops, managing conflicts and, above all, supporting each person in achieving their individual goals.”
This is not the first time that the ESF has supported Stëmm vun der Strooss. In 2021, the fund co-financed the social restaurant project in Esch-sur-Alzette. In early 2024, the “food recycling workshop” initiative also received financial support. On each occasion, these initiatives were supplemented by funding from the labour ministry.
