At a press conference on Monday morning, the Luxembourg City council announced the details of the Schueberfouer, which will take place from 23 August to 11 September 2024 on the Champ du Glacis in Luxembourg. For this 682nd edition, the fair will feature 216 establishments of all kinds: rides, trains, restaurants, refreshment stands, sweet shops, shooting galleries, arcades, game stalls and hawkers. You can expect to pay between €3 and €9 for a ride, depending on the type.
Five dates to remember
Friday 23 August: the inauguration of the Schueberfouer at 5pm in the company of Luxembourg City’s mayor (DP), who will cut the ribbon to the music of the Harmonie municipale Luxembourg & Limpertsberg.
Wednesday 28 August: Discount day for all attractions and restaurants.
Thursday 29 August: Queens’ Day (Kinniginnendag) at 5pm.
Monday 2 September: the city’s Braderie takes place in the streets of the Ville-Haute and the Gare district.
Wednesday 11 September: attractions are half-price until 8pm, before a fireworks display on the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge at 10pm brings this year’s Schueberfouer to a close.
New this year
Like every year, the Schueberfouer has a number of new features. In terms of rides: let yourself be tempted by water activities, Jim & Jasper's Wildwasser, the Spuk haunted house, thrills with Top Scan or the carousel and toboggan on rails. Pancakes, waffles and doughnuts are on offer to satisfy the taste buds of young and old alike. Some attractions are returning after an absence of one or more years, including Circus Circus, Infinity and Wild Mouse. Many other stands can be found on the fouer.vdl.lu website.
How to get there
Public transport will be reinforced during the Schueberfouer. Although the tram will only run on one track between the Faïencerie and Theatre stops during this period, Luxtram says this will not cause any problems. In addition, the tram line will run every 5-10 minutes during this period, and its timetable will be extended, with last departures after 1am. Line 18 will also be strengthened and will operate in the evening until 1:23am.
Additional bus routes, such as route 37, will be introduced, with buses running from the Bouillon P+R to the Glacis every fifteen minutes from 11:30am until 2:45am. Three bus routes--6, 11 and 16--will have their timetables extended until 1am. Alderman (DP) said: “I encourage you to use the bus or tram to come to the Glacis.” For those who still prefer to park closer to the Glacis, the Luxembourg City council has announced .

Asked about the income and expenditure linked to the Schueberfouer, the Luxembourg City council said that it was difficult to give precise figures at this stage. Many departments are working on the organisation and the total accounting of expenditure is complex. The same applies to income. In addition to fairground fees, there’s also indirect revenue, such as the expenses incurred by visitors in other parts of the city or overnight stays in hotels.
