Five tonnes of CO2 from “cradle to grave.” At the Paris Motor Show, the Renault group, via its new branch focused on intelligent electric vehicles (Ampere), presented its Emblem. This new model emits five times less pollution over a 200,000km lifecycle than a Renault Megane E-Tech, which itself already emits half as much pollution as a Renault Captur petrol car. To achieve this feat, the carmaker began by reducing the carbon footprint of all materials by 70%, thanks to industrial partnerships with ArcelorMittal, Michelin and STMicroelectronics, to name but three. This model, which will feature a new interface powered by artificial intelligence, could also be one of the first to run on hydrogen or even fuel cells.
But the group has also confirmed the launch of an electric Twingo for under €20,000 in 2026 and the production of the Renault 5 in less than ten hours at Ampere ElectriCity. It is also expected to produce the Alpine A290 and A390, the Compact EV and Nissan’s future electric vehicle in the A segment, as well as Mitsubishi’s next electric C-SUV, available next year.
