On 25 June, Mudam Luxembourg hosted the official launch event for the Mike Koedinger Foundation. Following a speech by its founder, Mike Koedinger, the event continued with a discussion between the researcher and author Ayala Panievsky, a specialist in contemporary changes in censorship, and RTL journalist Caroline Mart.
Established to promote media integrity, critical thinking and democratic debate, the foundation aims to develop awareness-raising and educational projects focusing on issues relating to information. Its first project will take the form of an illustrated dictionary focusing on power, the media and democracy, intended to serve as a basis for educational content.
The opening conference provided an opportunity to discuss the pressures currently facing journalism, whether in the form of disinformation, online harassment, political intimidation or the challenges posed by social media and artificial intelligence. The discussions also highlighted the vital role of reliable information in the functioning of democratic societies.
