It was a standout year for Luxair: a 22% rise in passengers to 2.5m, over half of all travellers passing through Findel Airport in 2023.

Some 2.5m people boarded a Luxair aircraft in 2023, a number that surpasses the previous record of 2.15m, set in 2019 before the pandemic. According to a press release published by the company on 4 January, the uptick equals a 22% increase compared to 2022, when the airline had 2m passengers.

Over the first 11 months of 2023, Luxembourg airport welcomed 4,503,448 passengers, according to figures from the air navigation authority, already more than the 4,114,291 recorded in the 12 months of 2022. If the December 2022 figure is carried forward to 2023, the total hits 4.8m.

With its 2.5m passengers, Luxair has therefore carried more than half that number. The figures show that Luxair is on the road to “a robust recovery and growth trajectory,” says the airline, which added five destinations to its catalogue during the year: Pescara, , . For 2024, two further destinations have already been announced: Manchester (UK) and Brač (Croatia).

Luxair will also make headlines in 2024 for the  to Luxcargo Handling (a subsidiary of Cargolux) and the Greek company Goldair Handling, both of which have been awarded cargo licenses by mobility minister  (DP).
