47 official visits and trips within Luxembourg, 16 abroad and 15 meetings with representatives from civil society and the business community. As the first anniversary of the ‘Trounwiessel’ – the change of reign – approaches, the Grand Duke’s Office looks back in photographs on the 12 months that have passed since the sovereign took the oath of office before the parliament , 3 October 2025.
The economy features in this review. The Grand Duke visited businesses of various sizes and from a range of sectors, discussing their plans and challenges with their managers and staff. He also met with representatives of the Federation of Young Business Leaders in late 2025. In New York last April, he presented the Luxembourg American Business Award to Plastipak, against the backdrop of the country’s appeal to foreign businesses.
During this first year, the Grand Ducal couple also travelled to Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, the Holy See, Spain and France on courtesy visits. On 22 September, the Grand Duke addressed the United Nations General Assembly, calling for a restoration of trust and a strengthening of multilateralism. A week later, on 29 and 30 September, the Finnish President Alexander Stubb and his wife Suzanne Innes-Stubb were welcomed to Luxembourg for the first incoming state visit of the new reign.
Youth and Solidarity
In Luxembourg, the images also capture encounters with local residents. Following the ‘Feierlech Tournée’ on 4 October 2025 in Grevenmacher, Wiltz, Steinfort and Dudelange, and the ‘Joyeuses Entrées’ in Esch-sur-Alzette, Troisvierges and Ehnen paid tribute to local associations, volunteers and key figures from the cultural and economic sectors. The tour will continue in 2027, in Mersch on 11 June and in Beckerich on 9 July.
Youth and solidarity form another part of this retrospective. At the Palace, the Grand Duke met with the Youth Parliament and welcomed young Ukrainians from Bucha. Having become President of the Luxembourg Red Cross, the Grand Duchess personally responded to a call for blood donations. The couple also served meals at the Vollekskichen in Bonnevoie, took part in the Relay for Life and participated in the 25th this year’s Télévie.
Luxembourg’s craftsmanship has finally found a showcase in Venice, where the couple celebrated the tenth anniversary of De Mains De Maîtres last September. In addition to the photographs, the report also lists 78 audiences and meetings with national authorities and institutions, as well as 32 with foreign and international authorities. This provides an overview of the activities during the new reign, the early commitments of which the Grand Duke had framed in terms of respect for democratic institutions and political neutrality.
