The ninth edition of Luxembourg Art Week will be held from 10 to 12 November and will be led by a new director, Caroline von Reden. This year’s guest city for the “Focus” section is Vienna.

For nine years now, Luxembourg Art Week has been putting the spotlight on contemporary art in the autumn. Thanks to the dynamism initiated by , the contemporary art fair has grown in stature and reputation every year.

For this year’s edition, to be held from 10 to 12 November, Luxembourg Art Week is expanding a little further.

A new director and Vienna in the spotlight

For the art fair, the biggest change is the appointment of Caroline von Reden as the new director, replacing . An independent arts management consultant, von Reden has spent most of her career in Berlin (Artforum Berlin), Vienna (for the ViennaContemporary fair) and more recently in Brussels. From now on, she will be working in Luxembourg. Her vision is to make Luxembourg “a destination for art and build a strong market”. To achieve this, she intends to work with all the cultural players, as well as with Luxembourg for Tourism.

Under the Glacis tent, there will be roughly the same number of galleries, just under 80, mainly from France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg. This year’s “Focus” section will feature galleries from Vienna, selected by curator Monika Georgieva.

The guest artist at Le Café will be Pauline-Rose Dumas, whose work we already had the pleasure of discovering last year on a stand at the fair and more recently in .

The fair’s exteriors and furnishings will be designed this year by Dubai-based studio T.Zed Architects.

And it’s worth noting that, alongside its long-standing partner Atoz, Delen Private Bank Luxembourg has also chosen to support Luxembourg Art Week, offering greater visibility to Belgian collectors with whom the bank has close ties.

Associated programme

Alongside the gallery stands, the associated programme includes a wide range of activities and exhibitions. The exhibition of sculptures in the public space will go beyond the confines of the fair to take in the city itself, on the square in front of Notre-Dame Cathedral and in the courtyard of Neimënster. This year, the gritty works of Atelier Van Lieshout will be on show.

The conference programme has been renewed, and this year will focus on women collectors, art and artificial intelligence, and the notion of research for artists.
