If there’s one place in Luxembourg that’s a “temple of well-being,” it’s the Mondorf spa estate. Relaxing treatments, spa cures, bathing and fitness activities... The wide range of services available to individuals has also been adapted for the business world, with the Healthcare@Work programme.

For more than a century, the Mondorf thermal spa has been a benchmark for wellbeing and health in Luxembourg. Since 2015, the estate has also positioned itself as a solid relay for companies, with Healthcare@Work, helping them to improve the well-being of their employees, based on the principle that making people and health priorities is also a way of investing in a company's success.

“We work in four areas: stress, physical activity, nutrition and musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). For each, we offer conferences or workshops directly in companies or at the spa. Companies contact us with their needs and expectations on these subjects, and we develop a tailor-made programme,” explains programme manager Émilie Schaeffer.

In these made-to-measure programmes, which can be one-off or more regular and aimed at all or some of the employees, several professionals in the field can be involved: relaxation therapists, physiotherapists, masseurs, dieticians, psychologists, sports therapists and sports coaches. And all this comes at a price: a single conference costs between €480 and €500; workshops start at €240; for a complete package including various speakers, workshops and conferences, the programme costs around €6,500.

The more managers take employee well-being into account, the more we will have motivating companies and high-performing employees.

The requests from companies vary and the issues differ, particularly depending on the sector of activity, “but the themes of stress, work-life balance and nutrition come up most often,” says the specialist, who notes a development over the last few years.

“Managers are well aware of the importance of well-being at work. The more they take employee well-being into account, the more we’ll have motivating companies and high-performing employees. Especially as we spend a lot of our lives at work. Taking this into account can therefore be an attractive factor for a company,” says Schaeffer.
