Luxembourg’s culture ministry will be providing up to €10,000 to recording artists in the country as part of a new programme launched on Monday.

The scheme is being launched as part of an overhaul of the culture ministry’s subsidies programme, with two calls for application per year and a total annual sum of €100,000 made available.

Artists must live in Luxembourg or provide another link to the country as part of their application. Luxembourg labels and record companies can also apply in a bid to promote young artists and support professionals in their careers as musicians.

The programme is open to individual artists or groups of two or more musicians who want to record a project including at least five songs or a record of at least 20 minutes. Artists must be the owners of the music, which cannot have been commercialised previously.

Each subsidy can cover up to 60% of the costs incurred, with a maximum of €10,000 paid per artist or group.
