"It's the Wild West... but you can't kill anyone there!" says Keune, a specialist in marketing and augmented and virtual reality who decided to jump on the "metaverse" phenomenon. “It's true that today it's mainly an advertising tool, but this technology has a much wider potential in the medium term," he says.
Keune is launching alongside Krisztián Kolesár and Darya Tsymbalyuk, a consultancy company looking to take an important part in an emerging part of the market. "We realised that while buzzwords are in the media every day, companies don't really know what they are, nor much about the technologies behind them. What we offer with Metaworx are workshops, trainings, sessions, call them what you will, to show managers and their employees how it works," he explains.
Interested companies can book a date and the team will come in with their headsets to present the materials and technologies, and take people to this promising new world. The price of the services is still being studied, between ‘basic prices’ or prices will be set depending on the number of people.
Twenty 'Duchy' sites in May
But Metaworx is only a stepping stone to the first Luxembourg metaverse, titled "The Duchy", according to Silicon Luxembourg, which broke the news. “Our intention is to work on a website to launch this metaverse in April or May, with the sale of the first twenty plots. Depending on the interest, we will sell other plots of terrain in the wake of this. On these plots, companies will be able to have their own space and decide on the architecture with our help, before being able to show what they are doing and then meet potential customers.”
Five companies, including at least one investment fund, have already expressed interest. "But I could imagine that the State or the Ministry of the Economy would like to participate in the development of The Duchy. It would be a way of showing Luxembourg's know-how or presenting a virtual showcase of Luxembourg," says entrepreneur.
