In response to the rise in cyber threats and the risks of identity theft, LuxTrust and Incert have announced a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening Luxembourg’s capabilities in the areas of digital identity, cryptography and trust services. The two organisations aim to develop joint solutions in the areas of identification, strong authentication, electronic certification and the security of digital communications. This cooperation is in line with European ambitions to achieve a more resilient, secure and sovereign digital environment.

Since 2005, LuxTrust has been developing qualified trust services compliant with the European eIDAS Regulation, as well as solutions for digital identity, document management and data governance. Established in 2012 by the Luxembourg government, Incert supports public services in the management of critical infrastructure, cryptography and technologies relating to digital identity.

Together, the two partners plan to develop solutions for public authorities, businesses and citizens to enable the roll-out of secure identification and authentication processes. They also aim to promote the development of interoperable digital services that can be rapidly deployed and are tailored to market needs.

Strengthening technological capabilities

According to the CEO of LuxTrust, Fabrice Aresu, this partnership addresses a long-term challenge. “Digital sovereignty cannot be imposed; it is built, brick by brick, through the joint mastery of critical technologies. This collaboration with Incert strengthens our collective ability to offer businesses and citizens robust, resilient solutions that are fully compliant with European standards.” Both organisations state that this cooperation should also offer users better protection against identity fraud, as well as a digital experience that is “simpler, smoother and safer”.

An ambition that extends beyond Luxembourg’s borders

Incert’s CEO, Benoît Poletti, believes that this partnership is in line with his organisation’s mission. “An organisation is not judged by its promises, but by what it dares to build.” For the past ten years, Incert has been developing identity management and cryptography solutions and services to meet national and international needs. This partnership marks a new stage in strengthening Luxembourg’s technological capabilities and in our ambition to serve strategic needs far beyond our borders.”

Finally, the two partners have stated their intention to promote Luxembourg’s expertise in digital identity, cybersecurity, cryptography and trust services, whilst strengthening the strategic technological capabilities of both Luxembourg and Europe.
