Luxembourg City has turned one of its squares into a beach in a bid to draw crowds back to the capital.

The Place du Théâtre makeover includes a 350m2 sandpit with deckchairs, beach umbrells, a pétanque piste and pop-up stands selling refreshments.

The “Theatreplage”, as the project is known, opened for the first time on Thursday and will be accessible from 10am to 10pm until 12 September.

Visitors will be asked to observe pandemic health measures.
