Laura Könner has been appointed director of the Directorate of Civil Aviation (DAC), the ministry of mobility and public works announced on Tuesday 18 February 2025. On the proposal of Minister (DP), the ministers meeting in council approved this appointment. Könner succeeds Pierre Jaeger, who has been at the head of the DAC since January 2015.
Könner holds a master of science in logistics and supply chain management from Westminster University, an advanced master’s degree in air transport management from the École nationale de l’aviation civile in Toulouse, France, as well as a postgraduate diploma in aeronautical maintenance and engineering. She began her career at Airbus as a flight operations engineer, then went on to assist the CEO of Akka Technologies, a multinational company with a focus on digitalisation and sustainability in the mobility sector, explains the ministry’s press release. Until taking up her post as acting director of the DAC on 3 February this year, Könner worked at the ministry of mobility and public works as an aviation expert and represented the ministry at the international level, notably with Eurocontrol, Muac and the European Commission. She is also on the board of directors at Alsa SA.
