On 1 December, Swiss Life Luxembourg announced the appointment of Karine Verbruggen as CEO of the company. She replaces Theo Iaponas, who has been appointed CEO of Swiss Life’s international division.

Swiss Life Luxembourg, a subsidiary of the Swiss Life Group, has announced the appointment of a new CEO: Karine Verbruggen has taken over as head of the company, which specialises in life insurance. Her duties will include continuing to develop the company’s commercial strategy in terms of growth and efficiency. Verbruggen will also aim to strengthen the company’s market presence and deepen collaboration with the company’s partners. She succeeds Theo Iaponas, who has held this position since 2017 and has been appointed CEO of Swiss Life’s international division.

“With Theo’s excellent work, the exceptional expertise of our staff and our innovative range of solutions for businesses and individuals, we are well placed to continue to play a major role in the market,” said the new CEO.

Verbruggen, who joined the company in 2016, first worked as chief transformation officer (CTO) and led the integration of elipsLife after its acquisition in 2021. For four years, she headed the employee benefits operations department and for two years the business engineering team. Before joining Swiss Life, Verbruggen worked for eight years at the Ikano Group as head of project management office, and for four years as finance director at the NGO Doctors Without Borders.

“Karine Verbruggen is a valued colleague whose experience, proven track record and dedication to fostering collaboration will undoubtedly contribute to our continued growth and success,” said Verbruggen’s predecessor, Iaponas.

Swiss Life Luxembourg has been present in Luxembourg since 1985 and is the group’s official platform for global solutions for international clients. The Luxembourg entity employs around 150 people of 30 different nationalities.
