Columbia Threadneedle Investments on 3 April announced the appointment of Jill Griffin to the newly created role of head of Luxembourg. Delano caught up with Griffin to hear more about her new position.

Griffin is joining asset manager Columbia Threadneedle from Allspring Investments, where she spent five years as general manager and head of international governance, noted the firm’s press release. Columbia Threadneedle Investments, which has €547bn assets under management as of 31 December 2022, is the global asset management group of Ameriprise Financial, a US-based financial services provider.

Head of Luxembourg is a newly created position. Why has Columbia Threadneedle created the role now?

Jill Griffin: The decision to create this role reflects the increased size and importance of the  European business and market for Columbia Threadneedle. It also reflects the size of our business and our wish to further strengthen our local relationships. It is a natural next step also in light of the integrations of BMO Global Asset Management (EMEA).

What are your ambitions for the role over the coming year(s)?

JG: I am very much looking forward to working with all our global stakeholders to build on an already well-established team in Luxembourg and take the Columbia Threadneedle activities in Luxembourg and Europe to the next level.  We are looking to increase Threadneedle Management Luxembourg SA’s visibility and voice in the broader Luxembourg funds community.

What is most exciting opportunity about the role?

JG: This is a newly created role for Luxembourg and it reflects Columbia Threadneedle’s increased scope and footprint in the region. I am excited to work with a talented and deeply knowledgeable teams both in Luxembourg and the broader region. I believe this is an incredibly exciting time to be joining Columbia Threadneedle. The commitment to create this new senior role in Luxembourg tells me everything I need to know about Columbia Threadneedle’s ambitions for Europe.
