Grand Duke Henri formally accepted credentials from five recently appointed ambassadors to Luxembourg at the Grand-Ducal Palace on Wednesday 26 October.

The new Japanese ambassador Tadahiro Matsubara was among the new intake of senior diplomats. A former senior managing executive officer of Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, Matsubara has an extensive business background with 40 years of experience, his predecessor Jiro Okuyama said in his farewell message. He was accompanied to the palace by his wife, Emi.

Also presenting his credentials was the new ambassador of the Principality of Monaco, Frédéric Labarrère. Like many ambassadors to the grand duchy, Labarrère is based in Brussels where he represents his country to Belgium and to the European Union – he presented his credentials to Commission president Ursula von der Leyen back in July.

Three more new ambassadors based in Brussels, included Bolivia’s Valeria Denisse Vilaseca Chumacero, Bahrain’s Abdulla bin Faisal bin Jabur Al Doseri and Senegal’s Baye Moctar Diop.
