Change of leadership at Proximus: from 17 April 2025 onwards, Jan Van Acoleyen will temporarily take over as head of the telecommunications group, replacing Guillaume Boutin, who in mid-May to join Vodafone.
As a reminder, despite extending his contract by six years last summer and receiving a raise in the process, Boutin sprang a surprise by announcing his departure a few weeks ago. The Frenchman, who has been at the helm of Proximus since 2019, “will assume an advisory role during his final month in order to ensure a smooth transition,” the company said in a press release.
Faced with the urgency of the situation, a headhunting firm has been commissioned to identify the next CEO. But the board of directors believes that the appointment cannot be made before mid-May. Hence the need for a transitional solution.
In this context, the current head of human resources at Proximus, Van Acoleyen, has been appointed to ensure this transition. As of 17 April, the day after the Proximus general shareholders’ meeting, he will assume the role of interim CEO “under the supervision of the chair of the board of directors and with shared signing authority with the latter for all decisions relating to operations on the domestic markets and at group level.”
Beyond this changeover, Proximus is initiating a major structural change. Until now, Boutin has been both CEO of the group and CEO of Proximus Global, its international branch. The company would like to review this dual role. As a result, Mark Reid, currently CFO, will take the reins of Proximus Global as interim CEO.
