Opening a new 42,000m2 mixed-use complex is no mean feat. Neither is finding all the retailers who want to join the venture and occupy the 7,000m2 of retail space. But today, the marketing of Gridx, the Giorgetti Group’s new multi-business centre in Wickrange, is well underway and a number of retailers and brands have been confirmed. Whilst mobility and a passion for motoring are at the heart of the project, Gridx is aiming to do more than that, with a range of food and beverage outlets, premium retail outlets, a business centre, a hotel and a range of events and cultural activities.
“We’re not going to open everything at once,” says Stéphanie Schleich, Gridx’s marketing and communications manager. “Instead, we’re going to spread the different openings over the course of a year, starting in July.” Several themes such as mobility, gastronomy, fashion, design, sport, etc. will be used to group the openings together and keep people coming back to Gridx to discover what’s new.
Eat, drink and sleep
Gridx will have a large catering offer, with 2,600m2 reserved for dining. Customers will be able to visit a foodhall with 16 corners offering different types of cuisine, plus a traditional brasserie. The whole complex is being operated by Concept & Partners, a company in which the Giorgetti Group is a shareholder. It will be developing a new offering specifically for this location. “The idea is not to have a copy of Naga or Kin Khao, but to have counters designed entirely for Gridx customers,” says Schleich.
In addition to the restaurants, there will be food shops, including a 500m2 unit occupied by a joint venture between Caves Wengler and Caves Bernard-Massard. “This will be a wine cellar unlike any other in the region, or even in Paris, I’d say,” says Gérard Wengler, managing director of Caves Wengler. More than 1,500 references, including grands crus and rare bottles, will be on offer in the new space. “The aim is not only to serve their customers, but also to reach out to new wine lovers,” adds , managing director of Caves Bernard-Massard.
Added to this is a hotel of 133 rooms operated by Cycas Hospitality, a group founded in 2014 that operates more than 50 hotels in 12 countries (Hyatt Place Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Moxy Amsterdam Houthavens, Staybridge Suites London Vauxhall, Fairfield by Marriott--British Motor Museum...). These hotels offer both classic rooms and small flats for longer stays.
Linked to these sectors is the creation of a second site for the Luxembourg School of Hospitality and Tourism (École d'Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Luxembourg, EHTL), which sees Gridx as an opportunity to welcome new students, particularly from the south of the country, thus avoiding the need to travel to Diekirch. From the start of the 2025 school year, four classrooms will be open, with the kitchen to be added later (September 2026). The presence of the school should make it possible to develop synergies with Gridx’s catering, hotel and events activities. For the school, this is a temporary site until Sanem Castle, which has been identified by the government as another campus, is renovated.
Mobility, the heart of Gridx
Mobility and a passion for cars are the central themes at Gridx. The shops present are geared towards the premium segment. There will be car dealerships for Ducati-KTM, Bentley, Alpine, Merbag and those of the Losch group.
Electric mobility will be represented by My Ways, which specialises in electric motorbikes, bicycles and scooters, and Loisibike, a specialist in electric and leisure bikes.
There will also be a LU KS technical inspection centre, a car wash on a scale unrivalled in Luxembourg operated by Petro-Center, a Europcar rental agency, Cloche d’Or driving school and a Foyer insurance agency.
Car-related concierge services will also be provided by Car Protect, a family-run business specialising in top-of-the-range car services such as registration, upholstery, transport, electromechanics, roadworthiness tests and guarding (under canvas or in glassboxes). This concierge service will be operated in collaboration with Gridx.
Autoparts Luxembourg (APL), a company specialising in spare parts, will have a storage area, a small showroom displaying personal protective equipment, a workshop and a training area for independent garage owners.
Alongside these shops, a more cultural aspect is being developed around the car, thanks to a partnership with Mauto, the Turin Automobile Museum. For example, an Ayton Senna exhibition is planned for 2025. Exceptional cars will also be unveiled to the public.
Fashion and design
Fashion will also be present at Gridx, with the opening of an Engelhorn, a German multi-brand chain based in Mannheim, which will be developing a top-of-the-range department store over 5,000m2, including a more sporting range. The selection of brands represented has not yet been finalised.
Alongside this offering, there will also be a Burotrend showroom, with the aim of showcasing both home and office furniture.
There will also be an Ionnyk shop, a brand specialising in top-of-the-range and connected digital photo frames, and an Expert Pilot sales area offering driving courses.
For the home, there’s also Eleni Group, which is both an estate agency and an insurance company.
A major events programme
The events section will take up a large part of the Gridx centre. A lot of space will be devoted to this, with the Giolabs immersive digital art galleries in particular. These galleries will be able to host both cultural projects and private events.
Partyrent has chosen to be present at Gridx to support these festive and reception events.
And offices
The final pillar of Gridx is the business centre. Total Energie and Circle K have already confirmed that they will be renting office space.
Their employees will be able to take advantage of the fitness centre run by karate practitioner Pola Giorgetti, who belongs to the latest generation of the Giorgetti family (Pola is Paul Giorgetti's daughter) and the Bionext medical analysis laboratories.
