Eight Luxembourg chefs flew to the United Arab Emirates with Gault&Millau and RAK Porcelain. On the menu for this “surprise” trip--for which the chefs had no details before taking off from Findel--were high-flying catering, a focus on local gastronomy and high-tech cuisine. A vast programme. Here’s a look back in photos.

As part of a partnership between RAK Porcelain Europe and Gault&Millau, eight Luxembourg chefs took part in a surprise trip over the Easter weekend, The destination was the RAK Porcelain factory in Ras al Khaimah, in the north of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where RAK Porcelain was founded, and whose porcelain tableware is renowned for its quality and originality in the catering sector. Its European hub is based in Bettembourg.

The majority of the chefs selected to take part in this voyage of discovery centred around cuisine are those who have been voted Chefs of the Year since Gault&Millau Luxembourg was founded in 2015. François Jagut (Les Roses 2025), Louis Linster (Restaurant Lea Linster 2024), Roberto Fani (Fani 2023), Ryodo Kajiwara (Ryodo 2022), René Mathieu (Fields 2021), Cyril Molard (Ma Langue Sourit 2020), Ilario Mosconi (Mosconi 2017) and Clovis Degrave (Grünewald Chef’s Table, Young Chef of the Year 2024) took part in this experience, which enabled them to exchange ideas, learn, get away from their daily routine, create links and stimulate their creativity. “Corporatism at its best in a way,” says the Gault&Millau Luxembourg team.

The chefs were accompanied by representatives of the porcelain manufacturer, international key account manager Serge Hemmer and operations director Sven Bordy, as well as Worldchefs president Andy Cuthbert. A high-flying culinary weekend to review in pictures.
