Starting from 1 January 2024, the number of meal vouchers that can be used per day will be limited to five.

In June 2023, Luxembourg’s government from a maximum face value of €10.80 to €15. Paper restaurant tickets will no longer be issued, vouchers will be fully digitised and their use limited to the purchase of food products. People will still be able to use paper meal vouchers until the end of 2024, added the government in its press release at the time.

As 2024 approaches, Pluxee Luxembourg ( and one of the grand duchy’s meal voucher distributors, along with Edenred and ) has reminded its users that the new legislation will be applicable as of 1 January. People will be able to use a maximum of five meal vouchers per day, meaning that if one meal voucher has a face value of €10.80, then the maximum that can be spent through meal vouchers per day is €54. (Following this logic, if one meal voucher has a face value of €15, then the maximum that can be spent via meal vouchers per day is €75). The maximum face value of a lunch voucher remains up to the employer.

Pluxee has also noted that each (digital) meal voucher is valid for one year, starting from the date of its issue.
