84-year-old Steven Frank visited Luxembourg, where his nephew Nick Frank has lived for several years, to talk at local schools.

Steven Frank was five when the Nazis invaded and occupied his home in Amsterdam. After his father, an eminent lawyer, was arrested for resistance activities in 1942, he, his two brothers and mother spent time in different camps before arriving in the notorious Theresienstadt camp. The camp was liberated on 9 May 1945, after which Frank moved to the UK, where his mother’s parents lived.

Having spoken about his experiences in schools for the last 25 years, Frank was awarded a BEM in the 2019 New Year’s Honours List for his services to Holocaust education. He is one of ten Holocaust survivors to be immortalised in an interactive 3D hologram at the The National Holocaust Centre and Museum’s Forever Project. And he is featured in BBC documentary “Finding My Family”, filmed with his granddaughter, Maggie, in 2018, which was shortlisted for the children’s Bafta.
