- China Everbright Bank is set to begin operating in Luxembourg shortly. It has begun recruiting staff and its authorisation from the Luxembourg regulator CSSF is expected soon. The unit will be China Everbright's first international hub. Six other major Chinese banks already have EU hubs in the grand duchy.
- Chinese language courses will be offered at the state-run Athénée de Luxembourg and Lycée Aline Mayrisch starting this autumn.
- The grand duchy has risen from 11th to 8th place in the World Competitiveness Yearbook, an annual economic scorecard published by the Swiss business school IMD.
- Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, was grilled for an hour and a half on Tuesday by a European Parliament committee over charges of widespread tax evasion and tax fraud, by multinationals and wealthy individuals, that occurred when he was prime minister of Luxembourg.
- The Dutch bank ING officially inaugurated its new Luxembourg HQ, next to the central train station.
