The first Chinese bank, Bank of China Limited, Luxembourg Branch, came to Luxembourg in 1979--its first foreign outpost. In 1991 followed the second branch, called Bank of China Luxembourg.
The Industrial and Commercial Bank, one of the premier global banks in capitalisation, opened its doors in 1998, shortly followed in 1999 by a branch of ICB. In 2013, the China Construction bank and China Merchants Bank decide to locate in Luxembourg. A year later, Agricultural Bank of China and Bank of Communications join them.
