The Pico Fogo is the highest mountain at 2,829 m.  Fogo - the Portuguese word for fire - has its origin, due to the fact that a volcano is located in the park. The volcano is still active and last erupted from late 2014 to early 2015.

Yet, the volcano's cone remains intact and can still be climbed. The landscape around the Pico de Fogo looks like a lunar landscape, creating a very special atmosphere. On the 1st of May, with the Festas do São Filipe, the discovery of Fogos is celebrated and horse-racing takes place, however the volcano is of course an all year round recommended place to visit. The best way to get to the Pico de Fogo is from the village of Chã das Caldeiras. From here, the route takes about 6 hours - after all, 1000 meters of altitude difference can be mastered.

The Buracona Lagoon is a small bay located in the northwest of the island of Sal. The bay is approximately 5 km north of the village Palmeira and definitely worth a visit. It is not only ideal for swimming in the natural lava pool connected to the Blue Eye, but it is also a very interesting diving spot The part of the famous natural swimming pool Buracona Lagon is also called “the blue Eye”, because depending on where the sun is, the water of this seaside lava cava light up to look like a vivid blue eye.

Boa Vista – The Cosy Island

The easternmost and third-largest island of Cape Verde definitely does justice to its name – Boa Vista: beautiful view. Life on Boa Vista is a bit more authentic than on Sal, which is more touristic. The landscape here is also characterized by deserts of sand and scree. Yet, there are also a few low mountain ranges – and, of course, many beaches (55 kilometres), much sun, the sea and excellent conditions for water athletes.
