Following the resignation of Patrick Majerus as chairman of Mudam’s board of directors, Paperjam asked the culture minister Éric Thill (DP) for clarification.

Céline Coubray: Can you tell us why ?

Éric Thill: I respect the decision of Patrick Majerus, with whom I have spoken over the last few days, to resign, and I would like to thank him for his commitment and his significant contributions to Mudam. As his resignation is a personal decision, I won't be commenting on it any further. What I can assure you is that Mudam continues to enjoy the solid support of its board of directors and its team, and that its artistic and cultural mission remains unchanged.

Has a replacement already been identified?

In accordance with Mudam’s organic law, a board member must be replaced within three months. The chairman will be appointed by the government in council on a proposal from the minister for culture. For the moment, no one has yet been officially appointed, but we are actively working to identify the most appropriate profile to ensure continuity and strengthen Mudam’s vision.

Is the ministry’s intention to act quickly on this replacement?

We do indeed want to deal with this issue quickly, while respecting the necessary processes to ensure a well-considered and appropriate appointment. Our aim is to achieve a smooth transition, and we are working closely with the management team and the board of directors to achieve this. The interim leadership provided by the vice-chairman already ensures stability during this period.
