John Komen (with a time of 2 hours 12 minutes and 57 seconds), Bellor Yator (2:14:52) and Duncan Cheriyot Koech (2:16:22), all of Kenya, took first, second and third place, respectively, in the men’s full-marathon. Komen won with a time of 2:13:55 last year.
In the women’s field, Belaynesh Yigezu of Ethiopia (2:42:34), Rael Jepyator Kimaiyo of Kenya (2:44:25) and Zerfe Boku of Ethiopia (2:50:54) topped the 2016 tables.
Lisa Hahner of Germany (1:17:04) and Steffen Falck of Denmark (1:10:20) won the women’s and men’s half-marathon, respectively.
“Promi Staffel”--composed of Anna Hahner, Herbert Steffny, Thomas Dold and Irina Mikitenko--won the 10km team marathon (2:46:23).
Estelle Becker of Luxembourg placed first in the women’s 5km “run for success” (20 minutes and 59 seconds), while Maxime Zimmer of France (17:59) led the men’s field, according to the marathon’s official results site.
Altogether, 14,000 runners participated--up from 11,000 in 2015--in the event, which took place Saturday evening, organisers said in a press release. That includes 4,121 runners from Luxembourg, 3,590 from France, 1,450 from Germany, 1,333 from Belgium, 376 from Italy, 364 from Portugal, 240 from the UK, 188 from the Netherlands, 164 from Spain, 114 from Poland and 107 from the US.
Registration for next year’s run will open on 1 September.
