To be able to invest more than €10bn by the end of the decade to grow and in the hope to join the fight to become one of the largest data centre operators, French company Data4 needed a new financial partner.
The company, which operates two data centres in Gasperich, is reportedly being acquired by the Canadian Brookfield for an undetermined amount, according to Reuters, which would value the French company at €3.5bn.
With a turnover of €150m last year and 220 employees in six countries, Data4 had announced an investment of more than €1bn in the Paris suburbs and another in the construction of a campus of eight data centres in Frankfurt, associated with an investment plan of €1bn to €1.5bn.
Data4 has two data centres in Luxembourg covering 3,000 m2 and is used by 220 telecoms and cloud operators. In 2021, the latest data available, the group achieved a turnover of almost €800,000 in Luxembourg.
