Having won over 23% of the respondents, the CSV front-runner moves ahead of Lenert who, with 22%, has lost one percentage point. Behind this trio comes (déi Gréng), whom only 4% of the 1,073 Luxembourg residents asked would like to see become prime minister.
Bettel is the one who appeals most to young voters (aged 18 to 24), to 46% of them to be precise. In contrast, only 7% from this group said they would vote for Frieden, whose core constituency tends instead to be the over-65s (39%). In terms of the age of her supporters, Lenert’s results are fairly balanced.
When asked which parties should form the next government, 48% of respondents named the LSAP, which was in the lead last April at 47%; the same percentage mentioned the CSV, which was at 42% in April. These two are slightly ahead of the DP, which has the support of 46% of respondents. These three major parties are breaking away from the rest of the pack: déi Gréng has 22%, the Pirates 16%, the ADR and déi Lénk 9% each, and Fokus 4%.
