Mastercard announced on 21 March 2025 the appointment of Benjamin Dessy to the position of country manager for Belgium and Luxembourg, with effect from 10 March 2025. He succeeds Henri Dewaerheijd, who has taken on new responsibilities within Mastercard, overseeing market development in Western Europe.
Joining Mastercard in 2002 after a spell with Proximus Belgacom Mobile, Dessy has since held a number of senior positions within the American payment/withdrawal system company, including VP of digital payment and labs; global lead for OEM, MNO and digital partners relationship; or more recently SVP of global fintech enablement lead.
In his new role, Dessy will lead Mastercard’s operations in Belgium and Luxembourg, working closely with local customers to accelerate digital transformation and shape the future of payments, the release notes.
“I am delighted to start this new chapter at Mastercard,” said Dessy. “The payments industry is evolving rapidly, and both consumers and merchants expect ever more innovative, secure and accessible solutions across all channels. With my background in fintech, products and business development, I look forward to working with our teams, partners and customers to create new opportunities and drive market growth in Belgium and Luxembourg.”
“With his passion for innovation, business development and customer-centric approach, Benjamin Dessy is perfectly positioned to ensure our continued success in Belux,” added Paloma Real, western Europe division president for Mastercard.
