Up to 30.77% return. “Hidden” in the press release announcing a new milestone for ANote Music--€1m in royalties paid to its investors--the platform is giving the market a signal of what it can expect from the secondary music rights market: an average annual return of 12.20%, says the press release.
Since its launch, the platform has recorded more than €10m in transactions between music rights holders and investors, including €6.7m recorded on its secondary market, with a record volume of more than €3m in 2024.
In four years, ANote Music has made 174 royalty distributions on its platform, an average of one every five days over the past 12 months. In 2024, the company expects to distribute more than €600,000 in royalties, an increase of 70% compared to the previous year.
“We are proud of the progress we have made in opening up the music royalty market with strong and consistent results over the last few years,” commented ANote Music CEO and co-founder Marzio F. Schena. “We have demonstrated that this space is not just for industry insiders: anyone can access it and benefit from recurring and uncorrelated returns through royalties. Reaching €1m in distributed royalties is an important milestone, but it’s just the beginning. There’s so much more to come, and we’re excited to continue pushing our boundaries and growing.”
Matteo Cernuschi, COO and co-founder, added: “It’s rewarding to see people on both sides benefit, with rights holders receiving fair value and investors getting real returns. But we’re not stopping there. There are still many things we want to build to make this platform even more dynamic and rewarding. It’s a team effort, and we’re all looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”
Founded in Luxembourg in 2018 by Marzio F. Schena, Matteo Cernuschi and Grégoire Mathonet and launched in 2020, ANote Music works like a stock exchange. It’s a platform for buying, selling and collecting music royalties from hit catalogues, including songs performed by global icons such as The Kinks, Beyoncé, The Who, the Backstreet Boys, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, Drake, Avicii and many more.
