Three entries have been shortlisted for the second round of the competition to determine the project to be presented at the next Venice Architecture Biennale in 2025. The final results will be announced on 27 March.

The 19th Venice Architecture Biennale will be held from 24 May to 23 November 2025, curated by Carlo Ratti. Kultur | lx is organising a competition to determine who will have the opportunity to present their project in the Luxembourg pavilion.

For this year’s competition, eight entries were submitted to the jury. After analysis, the jury selected three projects to go forward to the second round of the competition.

These are the projects of:

- Collectif Matters.xyz (Valentin Bansac, Mike Fritsch, Alice Loumeau)-(editor’s note: a trio that had already been shortlisted for the pavilion at the 18th edition);

- Turkan Nies-Dagli, Mohamed Hamdi, Antonio Marvuglia, Dalibor Černý, François de la Caffinière, Julie Schadeck, Reza Kianpour, Stella Arieti, Ulrich Leopold;

- Céline Zimmer, Paul-Antoine Lucas, Bui Quy Son.

Jury members

The jury was made up of:

- Maribel Casas, director, Luca-Luxembourg Center for Architecture;

 president, Ordre des architectes et des ingénieurs-conseils Luxembourg;

- Claudine Hemmer, visual arts and architecture advisor, ministry of culture, Luxembourg;

- Marija Marić, curator of the Luxembourg pavilion in 2023;

- Eléonore Mialonier, architecture/design/arts and crafts project manager, Kultur | lx - Arts Council Luxembourg;

- Marion Waller, general manager, Pavillon de l’Arsenal, Paris;

- Nemanja Zimonjić, director, Ten Studio, Zurich/Belgrade.

The three candidates still in the running must now present their final projects, which will again be submitted to the jury for assessment. The winner will be announced on 27 March.
